When I found out that I’d been selected to take part in the BT Sport mentoring scheme, I was excited to learn more about the person in the industry that would be taking time out of their busy schedule to help me out, whilst about trying to get more of a working insight into the industry as a whole.
My mentor was Jamie Hindhaugh, who is the Chief Operating Officer on BT Sport. Jamie was bought into BT Sport to create three television sports channels based around the Premier League after heading up the BBC’s coverage of 2012 Olympic Games in London. In the short time that he has been with BT Sport, the channel has been smashing records and currently has the largest LED-lit studio in the world.
I had several meeting with Jamie where he identified problems in my job search and valuable information and advice in how to search for jobs, how to decide where I want to be and most importantly, personal advice in self-confidence and passion.
Although Jamie’s time is extremely limited due to his career, we are still in contact and I am hoping it is a working relationship that will continue into the future.
