The Student Union’s annual de-stress week - Keep Calm and Study On - that took place from Monday 30 April to Friday 4 May was definitely a pleasant way to work the stresses of students’ everyday lives out of their system. The campaign focused on students’ wellbeing during the most stressful time of their university lives – as they approach the end of term and, for some, the end of their time at UEL.
Activities such as revision sessions, yoga, a film night, sports sessions and many more ensured students took a break from the grind of everyday work and encouraged them to participate in relaxing co-curricular activities. In order to provide a space where students could relax, the Student Union social areas were jazzed up with beanbags, board games, video games and relaxing music to add to the ambience of the space. We also provided students with ‘study goody bags’ filled with essentials such as pens, post it notes, highlighters etc. to prepare them for what’s ahead.
None of this would have been possible without the support of the University, UEL Sports and of course external businesses that have contributed towards the success of the campaign. However, the highlight of the week was Doggy De-stress Day. The company Doggy De-stress brought down to UEL, for the second year in a row, their adorable furry friends to provide students with some good old doggo cuddle time. With over 80 students attending the event in a span of two hours it’s safe to say that dogs are the future of stress relief!
We would also like to thank our students who engaged with us during the week and hope that next year we make the campaign even bigger and better for all to enjoy. Don’t miss out on upcoming events and activities – stay updated on our website at www.uelunion.org/whatson, or follow us on:
