UELSports BUCS Success
For those that attended UELSports Big Blue Wednesday, it was a great day of victories, good vibes and plenty of blue! At SportsDock, we saw Men’s Basketball 2nd team take a victory over London South Bank and Women’s Netball win their first game this season over Roehampton. Unfortunately it wasn’t all smiles as the Men’s Basketball 4th team and Women’s Badminton Team both struggled against their opponents. However, the 100s that turned up to spectate seemed to enjoy the day nonetheless.
There were also wins around East London for Women’s Football 1st and Men’s Football 1st who won 6-2 and 6-0 against UCL. Whilst Men’s Hockey and Men’s Tennis 2nd team both had their games postponed due to frozen pitches. Men’s Tennis 1st team struggled against Loughborough, winning just 2 games. Men’s Football 2nd team also struggled against Brunel losing 5-3.
Big Blue Wednesday wasn’t the only success this BUCS Wednesday. It was also a day that UELSports won 2 more league titles. A huge congratulations to the UEL Men’s Basketball 1st team who beat Essex University to be crowned BUCS South Premier Champions and Men’s Table Tennis 1st team who also beat Essex University to win the BUCS South Eastern 3B league. With the success of Women’s 1st Team Volleyball last week, this now takes us up to 3 titles so far this season with 3 weeks left of the regular season.
Men’s Basketball 1st team narrowly beat Essex University 82-79 in a game that went back and forth. They now take this into the playoffs with the Quarter Finals on the 27th February. Men’s Table Tennis 1st team took a convincing 11-6 win over Essex and next season will play in the South Eastern 2B league just 2 leagues below the premier division.
Good luck to the remainder of the teams this season and we look forward to many more titles.
Our sports development team have been working hard to create a comprehensive programme for staff and students to get involved in. Our MyUELSports programme has landed on Stratford campus and is starting to grow, not only in classes but popularity.
All of our MyUELSports sessions are completely FREE for staff and students to get involved in and are currently on Docklands and Stratford campus. Our classes on Stratford campus include HIIT Training, Yoga, Full Body Circuits and Ab Blast.
Why not take a look at the flyer and go along to one of the sessions. As it’s completely free for all UEL staff and students, why not take along a friend or colleague?
